| title: | geovision gv250 video capture card |
|
hello everyone,
i just got geovision gv250 card (with only 1 composite video input),
which is based around bt878 chipset. i tried to install it in same
fashion as my previous capture card (no name, based around bt848
chipset), by compiling i2c, v4l, and bt848 drivers as modules (there
is no bt878 driver available in kernel, so i used existing one, named
bt848). after everything goes fine, loading bttv module goes fine
also, xawtv -c /dev/video0 reports no errors at all, but it doesnt
show picture from camera on any channel (television, composite1,
s-video, composite3). just as a side note, this procedure worked like
a charm on another, bt848-based card, where changing those "channels"
would actually change physical video input (cam1, cam2...). just to
prove i wasnt right when i thought the card or camera isnt working,
i installed same card and same cam into another box, which runs under
windows xp, using original geovision software, and it all worked...
also, i tried googling for similar topics, and it seems like this
(cards from geovision) are used very rarely... geovision doesnt even
mention linux on their pages ;)
now some more technical details.
